How Ought We Treat Animals?
Two weeks ago, Public Discourse featured an excellent two-piece essay by Christopher Tollefsen in review of Charles Camosy’s new book, For Love of Animals.
Tollefsen’s critique of the book—the thesis of which is that non-human animals belong to the same “justice community” as do human animals and therefore must be treated according to the same moral norms that govern inter-human relationships—is sound and succinct. I recommend his articles as an insightful entry into a fascinating arena of arguments, the implications of which are very meaningful, and very real.
