"The Road" - Intercollegiate Studies Institute

“The Road”

I’ve always loved Thomas Merton’s prayer known colloquially as “The Road.” The last few lines in particular I find deeply consoling (and not only during midterms week):

“Therefore will I trust you always,

though I may be lost and in the shadow of death.

I will not fear,

For you are ever with me,

And you will never leave me to face my perils alone.”
