Towards a More Civil Marriage Discourse

Tonight at 7 p.m. at Notre Dame, four Catholic scholars will converge on South Bend to discuss marriage and the role that the Catholic Church can play in the cultural discussion surrounding marriage.

Already some members of the campus community are bemoaning the coming of these “bigots.”  This is lamentable in part because one of the purposes of this panel discussion, featuring Ryan T. Anderson, Sherif Girgis, Ron Belgau, and Jennifer Roback Morse, is to foster a more intellectually empathetic exchange of commitments and arguments in good faith and goodwill.

The video of the panel will be uploaded within the week.  Check it out if you’ve got the time: In the spirit of Saint Patrick, who was tasked with evangelization in a hostile environment, it will be well worth a watch.
