White Light - Intercollegiate Studies Institute

White Light

As Winter passes through the glass of Time,

Its whiteness separates into a band

Of colors. Red tulips, bronze jonquils climb,

With violets and bluebells, on green land.

Cherry trees, blossoming as white as snow,

Blush. Indigo lilacs bloom fragrantly.

Yellow and pink honeysuckle vines blow

In west winds wafting earth’s perfumery.

As golden sunlight gleams on April’s days,

What is that white light shimmering on Spring?

Whiter than flocks of lambs or clouds, its rays

Fall on a condemned man, crowned with thorns, crying

“It is finished.” Darkness attacks the sun

As earth quakes. White light glows. “He is risen!”
